Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a new subscription?

Tap the + button in the top right corner of the main screen, then fill in the subscription details.

Do I need a SubSense account?

SubSense does not have a separate app account. Purchases and available iCloud sync use your Apple account.

Where are the reminder settings?

Choose reminder preferences when adding or editing a subscription, and check SubSense's notification permission in iOS Settings. If reminders do not arrive, contact support with your app version and saved billing date.

How do I export my subscription data?

Go to Settings > Export Data to open Data Management, then choose JSON or CSV. Export requires SubSense Premium.

Free Plan, Premium and Restore

How many subscriptions can I add without Premium?

If you first installed SubSense with version 5.4 or later, the free plan holds 5 subscriptions. If you used SubSense before version 5.4, your free plan keeps holding 7, and versions before 5.4 hold 7 for everyone. Only adding a new subscription is limited: nothing you saved is ever locked, hidden or removed, and reminders, iCloud sync and your totals stay free. Premium removes the limit and adds charts and export.

Why does my free plan hold 5 (or 7)?

From version 5.4, SubSense checks the App Store record of your original download on your device (see the privacy policy for what it reads). If the number looks wrong, open SubSense while your iPhone is online and signed in to the App Store, then check again. If it still looks wrong, contact support with your app version.

How do I restore Premium or manage my subscription?

Go to Settings > Account Settings > Restore Purchases, or tap Restore Purchases on the Premium screen, using the same Apple Account that bought Premium. To change or cancel a plan, use Manage Subscription in the same place or your Apple Account subscription settings.

Receipts, Widgets and Siri (Version 5.4 and Later)

How does Fill from a Receipt or Email work?

In the New Subscription form, tap Fill from a Receipt or Email, then choose a screenshot, paste text or type it. SubSense reads it on your iPhone and fills the form. Fields marked Check are worth a second look, and nothing is saved until you tap Add. It works on every iPhone; where Apple Intelligence is available and turned on, SubSense also uses Apple's on-device model, and otherwise it uses its built-in rules and says so. Reading is free, and adding a plan follows your free-plan limit.

How do I add the widgets or the Control Center button?

Touch and hold the Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap Edit or the + button, and search for SubSense to add Next Renewals or Monthly Subscriptions. The eye button on a widget hides amounts. The Add Subscription button for Control Center is available on iOS 18 and later. If a widget has nothing to show, check that the plan is marked active and open SubSense once.

What can I ask Siri or find in Spotlight?

Try "What renews soon in SubSense", "Get my monthly subscription total in SubSense" or "Add a subscription to SubSense". Marking a plan as cancelled keeps it in your list and turns its reminders off. On iOS 18 and later your plans also show up in Spotlight search. Siri adding a plan follows the same free-plan limit as the + button. To turn search or Siri suggestions off, go to iOS Settings > SubSense > Siri & Search.
